Ambientada en una misión religiosa en China durante los años 30\, reúne a un grupo de mujeres enfrentadas a la violencia\, el fanatismo y la irrupción de un carismático personaje femenino\, interpretado por Anne Bancroft.  \nFord cierra su carrera con un relato áspero y desencantado\, que dialoga con toda su obra anterior desde un ángulo inesperado. Su programación supone un acontecimiento\, el estreno absoluto de la restauración de una película que ha permanecido durante décadas sin copias proyectables hasta hace apenas unas semanas y la película más ansiada por la cinefilia mundial en los últimos años: una verdadera celebración.
